PROJECT SUMMARY
COMPREHENSIVE TRANSPORTATION SOLUTION
When our client Kiewit Offshore Services was looking for a custom solution to transport their offshore platform modules safely, fully assembled, and on a single voyage, they found what they were looking for with Jumbo-SAL-Alliance. This comprised a complete logistics package that included engineering, risk assessments, approvals, complete project management and logistics planning.
Our engineering teams came up with a solution where all their cargo could fit securely onboard the Heavy Lift Vessel Jumbo Fairmaster. Furthermore, because the client was not keen on exposing their cargo to all the weather elements while at sea, some of the cargo (flare boom and project items) could be stowed safely below deck protecting it from the weather. The cargo secured on deck (helideck, living quarters and other cargo) would be exposed to minimal elements and acceleration forces at sea. The team also offered a cost-efficient solution since the lifting would be executed by use of the vessel’s own two 1,500 tonne capacity cranes.
Certain cargo pieces were outsized; for example, the living quarters module measured 53 x 24 x 18 metres and weighed 1293 tonnes. However, our engineering teams are highly experienced in finding the smartest lifting and precision stowage solutions for tightest of squeezes like this.
